Why Don’t We Make You Call For a Quote? Unlike the big guys, our shipping container prices are posted online. Why do we do this when other companies won’t? Simple, we know our prices are fair and well below what you’d see with our large corporate competitors. We also know what a hassle it is to wait for quotes or haggle with sales reps. Western Container Sales will get you a fair price for a shipping or storage container sourced directly from global intermodal equipment providers, pulled from their inventories at your nearest intermodal depot. That’s how we can guarantee the container won’t leak.  Check out our current shipping container prices (please note they do change with inventory).

Can I look at the shipping container before I buy it? Because the containers are stacked at the intermodal depot, we cannot obtain photos or guarantee a specific unit. The depots are storing empty shipping containers for shipping lines and intermodal equipment providers. When we place an order for our customers, they just get the next container off the stack that meets their criteria. We help our customers buy containers from the depot, the same way the big national storage container companies buy their boxes. When you buy through Railbox Consulting, you’re buying a shipping container at wholesale. We help you navigate the process of purchasing a used shipping container directly from the cargo pool.

Call the space where you plan to put your shipping container. There may be restrictions on this type of structure, so ensure you are allowed to house a shipping container on the premises. Some cities and counties have local ordinances restricting the use of shipping containers in all but a few areas. In order for a container space to be adequate, you will need adequate delivery space. This is usually double the length of the container plus 10 feet (3.0 m). The location must also be level in order to use the shipping container safely.

Railbox Consulting uses the shipping container grades that are used by shipping lines. CWO means “cargo-worthy” and that a container can pass a CSC inspection to be stacked and transported on a cargo ship. WWT means “wind/water tight” with working doors that seal. A CWO box is also “wind and water tight” but a WWT box can no longer be certified for shipment. WWT boxes are more likely to have cosmetic issues, and usually the reason a container can no longer pass a CSC inspection is that there are too many dents (or the dents are too large). The main difference between a CWO and WWT box is that a CWO container can still be certified for shipment and a WWT box is likely to have more cosmetic issues than a CWO container. “One trip” containers are “cargo-worthy” containers that were manufactured within the last 1-2 calendar years and generally have little to no cosmetic issues (maybe a few dings/dents and scraped paint from being stacked, but that’s it).

A shipping container is a modular, stackable metal container used to convey goods by ocean or land transport. They are built for durability, and able to withstand weight, salt and moisture. As well as serving as a great way to ship goods by boat, truck or train, shipping containers are often used by individuals and businesses for storage. In recent years, they have also been shaped by architects and builders into homes, offices and stores. Whatever the reason you are looking for a used shipping container, it is a good idea to learn the lingo that is used to sell them and research your options, before making a purchase.
